Unable to boot up with XP after the first phase of installation
However after I resetted the pc, -problems occurred. It seems to boot up normally: gave the Windows startup screen and eventually displayed my desktop with the familiar Windows startup up sound. My Mcafee loaded up as usual on startup, but that was it. No icons, no nothing. Just a blank screen.

I think you should clean up your Startup Group, since this happens at boot. First pick one of these to identify what loads at boot.
